OUR PASTOR - PASTOR BYRON WYATT
Pastor/Shepherd Byron DeShawn Wyatt was born in Houston, Texas on August 6, 1970, to Charles and Gladys Wyatt. At the age of 6, he accepted Jesus Christ and was baptized at Outreach Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of Pastor Lawrence Jarvis. He served there and was a faithful member in several ministries, including the choir, junior deacon board, and the mentorship program.
As he grew older and more mature in the Word and works of the Lord, he felt the call of God on his life. Ultimately, on November 27, 1994, he answered this call and began to preach and teach the love of Jesus, His death, burial and resurrection.
Pastor Wyatt later united with St. Matthew Missionary Baptist church under the leadership of Dr. Leroy Lacy, Jr. While serving at St. Matthew, he was appointed as the Youth Pastor. In this capacity, he assisted Pastor Lacy and helped propel the spiritual growth of the youth, compelled boys and girls to accept Jesus Christ and he established several youth programs.
Pastor Wyatt answered the call of Lead Servant at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church on November 22, 2002, and was installed as Pastor in January of 2003. His philosophy of ministry is inspired by the life of the Apostle Paul. Paul’s zeal was in spreading the gospel of Christ to everyone he encountered. Giving God the praise and taking no credit for himself, he never allowed his personal endeavors to deter him from doing God’s will. Paul remained steadfast regardless of the odds against him. Pastor desires to continue and live in the admonition of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His prayer is that his knowledge, experiences, and strong inter-personal skills continue to aid him in strengthening the Kingdom of God by equipping believers with solid biblical principles to apply to everyday life.
Pastor Wyatt believes in the principle that Christianity and service begin at home. One of the major focal points of his ministry is family. If the family is strong, then the church will be strong and productive, while showing love and grace to all.
Pastor Wyatt is married to the lovely Bernadette L. Wyatt who he calls his “Blessing”, and they have two children, Brianna Mechelle Wyatt and Breylon J’Von Wyatt.
